CBT Compulsory basic training

Course Overview

Your CBT is a 1 day compulsory course getting you a permit train on public roads.

  • In the Classroom you will get to know the motorcycle and will learn the basic rider safety skills
  • Eyesight test
  • On the CBT Practice area you will learn and develop basic skills such as, clutch and throttle control and slow speed riding, along with maneuvers such as U-turns and emergency stops
  • Every ones favorite element of the CBT you are required to complete a two hour road ride with an instructor who will be in radio contact with you on the open road.

CBT Course details

Route 66 are the leading school delivering the DSA approved Compulsory Basic Training "CBT" course.

CBT or compulsory basic training is a training course for new riders of bikes or scooters.

The CBT is a training course and not a test.

Your CBT begins at our training school at 9am with an introduction to Safety wear and clothing. We then get you familiar with Bike or scooter controls and basic maintenance, followed by three hours off-road and theory training. We then take you out onto the public roads for a compulsory two-hour "Road Ride".

This Course delivers both classroom and practical on site training. Covering the 5 required elements of the DSA's CBT syllabus.

This course comes complete with a DSA certificate (DL196) on completion.

What You Will need For CBT:

You will need a provisional or full UK driving license, if you already have a car license your half way there! You will need to bring your license every time you train at Route 66.

We will include a helmet for you while training. Bring suitable leather motorcycle gloves. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes or boots, no training shoes please.

Dress for the occasion. If you have your own motorcycle gear wear it! Its the best protection against the elements. If Not heavy denim jeans and warm layered clothing, we suggest some waterproofs too in case it rains.
